y2 and x2 being the coordinates of the point furthest from the (0,0) and x1 and y1 being the nearest

so if x1=2 then
h(x)= 2^2 = 4

and if x2=4 then
h(x)= 2^4=16

so rate of change is
[tex] \frac{16 - 4}{4 - 2} = \frac{12}{2 } = 6[/tex]
