The Dutch were more intrusive than the Portugese were during these periods of colonization. Portugal made an alliance with the Congo King so that they will be able to trade spices and other produce with gold. The Dutch on the other hand over threw the Portugese colonizers and left Africans to use the scraps that they have already used for their trades.
