In the Middle Ages, Manor was the name provided to these self-sufficient states, where a lord ruled and had a variety of rights over land and tenants including the right to hold court.

The feudalism was a social and land-owning system of western Europe in the Middle Ages, which, in general terms, was organized according to this rank: The Crown, nobles, vassals and serfs (peasants). Finally, the peasants were obliged to live and work on their lord's land (usually the vassals) to have military protection.

Serfs were peasants, partially free, who had the obligation to work his lord's manor and paid dues to them for using the land. Most of them didn't enjoy of the rights they deserved.

This contract defined the obligations of both parts to one another: The Lord would grant land rights to the vassal and protect him in the court and in return, the vassal had to provide military service, certain payment and an oath of fealty.
5. Fiefs is C: Parcels of land granted from lords to their vassals
"Fief" is the term given to the piece of land granted under this feudal system.
6. Vassals is E: Lesser lords in the feudal structure
Under the feudal contract, the vassals basically became the lords of their land acquired. Their duty was to paid homage to the nobility and serve it, and at the same time, they also had peasants (also their tenants) serving them.
