According to Postman, the danger of depending on TV as a myth is that instead of accepting the fantastical elements of the TV, we choose to view it as a reality. What I’m trying to say is that the people that watch TV start believing everything they see and hear on their TV, rather than question and think about the nature of its content.
Hope it helps!
It is obvious that there is nothing wrong with entertainment. As a psychiatrist once said, we all build castles in the air. The problem arises when we try to live in them.
Television has reached the status of "metamedium," that is, the instrument that directs not only our knowledge of the world, but also our perception of ways of knowing, which is already a danger.
At the same time we can say that television has achieved the status of "myth". Which means that it's about define a way of understanding the world that is not problematic, of which we are not fully aware and which seems natural, which is not real, and remains another danger.
A myth is a way of thinking so deeply rooted in our consciousness that it becomes invisible, which makes it automatic and uncontrollable, and that is also a danger.
