In a normal line equation format, the equation would be y = mx + b. However, it's a little different in this situation.
We know the y-intercept is -7, so we can input that into the 'b' variable.
y = mx - 7
How about 'm'? m is the variable that represents slope, and the slope can be found with [tex]\frac{rise}{run}[/tex]. In this case, there is no rise, making the numerator 0. This in turn makes the slope 0.
Now we have:
y = 0x - 7
However, since 'x' is being multiplied by 0, it will always be zero no matter what number it is. This makes it redundant, and it can be removed.
The line equation is:
y = -7
Good luck!
