The process by which new ideas gets generated refers to innovation. It will be different form existing ideas and also useful in different ways than existing ones. The process in which there will be generation of new ideas and the production of products with those new ideas.
Acquisition refers to the take over of taking control over something. In the example given, the entertainment company Disney requires enhancement of its capabilities associated with movie-making and wants to give innovations to Marvel. Hence this can go for Innovation through acquisition.
