Seaweeds possess holdfasts which function to attach to substrate. Limpets have strong shells and attach to substrate with slime. Limpets don't easily desiccate. Barnacles attach to substrates. Crabs have hard shells to house their internal organs and shield off predators. Lichens can survive against high moisture and temperatures and also photosynthesize to form new tissues.
