Answer:
C)The relationship between consumers and producers at different Trophic levels.
Explanation:
Living organisms acquire energy in an ecosystem by feeding on one another. This feeding pattern is regarded as FOOD CHAIN. A food chain always starts with a unique set of organisms called PRODUCERS. A producer is an autotroph (usually plants) i.e. capable of making Its own food via photosynthesis.
The food chain continue when a heterotrophic organism i.e. depend on other organisms for energy source, called PRIMARY CONSUMER feeds on the producers. Another organism called SECONDARY CONSUMER feeds on the primary consumer while a TERTIARY CONSUMER feeds on the secondary consumer. Each level occupied by a particular organism is known as TROPHIC LEVEL. As each organism in one trophic level feeds on another in the previous trophic level, energy is transferred.
The transfer of energy from one trophic level to another is shown on an ECOLOGICAL PYRAMID. An ecological pyramid shows the relationship between the organisms in a food chain, which constitutes the producers and the consumers
