The drawing emerged with the need of man to portray a situation on a surface through points, lines and shapes. Over time, the drawing becomes an artistic technique that can also be the result of an artist's work, where a smooth surface is marked, with a pencil or pen, in connected lines and dots that result in the creation of an image , a flat and two-dimensional shape.
The painting, in turn, presented itself as an elitist form of plastic art, which differs from the drawing by the use of liquid or pasty pigments (paints), which adds to the work textures, hues, tones and depth. It is a technique that also aims to represent something, however, painting generally has a more intense meaning and requires more techniques to be executed. In other words, drawing is representation through lines, while painting is representation through colors.
Printmaking, in turn, differs from drawing and painting (using smooth surfaces) in that it uses hard surfaces to represent something. Printmaking is a set of techniques that uses materials such as medeira, stone, bricks and metals as the main exhibition vehicle. It does not usually express itself through colors or lines, but it presents itself as a more aggressive form of art, expressing itself through corrosions, incisions, cuts and gashes.
