The Peace of Augsburg was later broken by the Council of Trent. the Thirty Years’ War. the Great Peasants’ Revolt. the Protestant Reformation.

Respuesta :

The Peace of Augsburg was broken by the Thirty Years’ War.

After Martin Luther posted his 95 theses that criticized the Catholic Church, the Protestant Reformation took hold especially after influential figures like John Calvin rose to support the Reformation.

As a result of the Reformation:

  • religious conflict erupted in Europe between Catholics and Protestants
  • countries had to decide which branch of Christianity they would follow and this would create conflict with others.

The Peace of Augsburg ended this in the Holy Roman Empire amongst the German states but because the treaty did not adequately cater for Calvinists, the Thirty Year War broke out more than a century later.

In conclusion, the Peace of Augsburg both led to and ended as a result of the Thirty Years War.
