Many scholars and historians see Florence, Italy as the “New Athens” and the center of the Renaissance. Why would Florence receive this title and how did Florence live up to it?

Respuesta :

Florence was the center of the Renaissance. Athens (in the ancient times) was the home of Aristotle and some other great philosophers. It was well known throughout history for its interest and commitment to logic, reasoning, philosophy, and arts compared to its war and battle focused neighbors(like Sparta) Florence during the renaissance emulated many of the ideals that Athens stood for and revived many of the traditions that ceased during the Middle and Dark Ages. Florence was the place to be during the renaissance and had many notable artists and philosophers.
