The method which is used to separate a mixture of oil and vinegar is separation by density. Density is defined as the ratio of mass to the amount of matter i.e. volume.
As the density of vinegar is more i.e. [tex]1.006 g/cm^{3}[/tex] in comparison to oil i.e. [tex]0.918 g/cm^{3}[/tex]. Thus, vinegar is more dense implies settle to the bottom and oil is less dense implies floats on top. Oil floats on vinegar due to its less density.
Hence, mixture of oil and vinegar can be separate on the basis of their density i.e. separation by density method.
