The people of Umuofia in "Things Fall Apart" did observed the Week of Peace to thank the earth goddess for a fruitful harvest. There is punishment for anyone who does contrary like fighting. Punishment includes bringing of one she-goat, one hen, a length of cloth, and a hundred cowries to the Ani shrine or being was dragged through the village until the person dies.
