You are a delegate at the 1787 Constitutional Convention. The Federalists and Anti-Federalists debate over whether to create a stronger federal government or keep more power with the states. Which side of the debate would you have supported? Give at least two (or three, etc.) reasons for your choice.

Respuesta :

I’ll make an argument for either side, and you can pick which one you agree with.

Federalist:
A nation needs a strong government to keep itself together.

Without a large government, a loyalist coup could take place.

Giving power to the states would give less power to the union, which a war was fought to protect.

Anti-Federalist:
The larger the government is, the less rights are given to the people.

The union is made up of states, so why shouldn’t they run the union?

The more power given to the union, the more of a tyrannical government it becomes, which we fought a war to gain freedom from.
