The following is an example of an opinion on why Nick follows Gatsby and the others around rather intently:
Nick Carraway is the narrator of the novel "The Great Gatsby," by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
We see the events though his eyes, and it is only because Nick is willing to follow Gatsby, Daisy, Jordan, and Tom around that we can see what happens in their lives.
- Nick's father taught him to be careful not to judge others. Nick tries to keep in mind that not everyone was raised with the same opportunities as himself.
Also, Nick seems to have some sort of curiosity when it comes to the lives of the other characters. After all, it is a whole new world that has been opened to him.
Their lives are filled with drama, betrayal, parties, and money. It is only natural that Nick would feel curious about them.
