The distance  from the top of the statue to Ezra's head is 9.4m

Application of Pythagoras theorem

The theorem states that the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two sides.

Given the following

  • Height of statute a = 5m
  • Distance of Ezra from the statute = 8m

Required

Distance from the top "c"

According to the theorem;

c² = 5² + 8²

c² = 25 + 64
c² =89

c = √89

c = 9.43m

Hence the distance  from the top of the statue to Ezra's head is 9.4m
