A cohort study is an observational analysis in which parties are selected and followed along in time, to see how possible disease is to develop within the group. It is an observational study in which the investigation population, or cohort, is fixed.

These types of analyses, along with randomised collected trials, include analytical studies, whereas case statements and case sequences illustrate descriptive studies.

There are three types of comparison groups in cohort studies.

  • An internal comparison class.
  • A comparison cohort.
