Sympatric speciation is where there is differentiation and isolation of populations while being in the same location.
Sympatric speciation is the evolution of a new species from the old or the ancestral one, without any physical barriers of the geographical area. The example of such speciation is evolution of apple maggot fly living between their ancestral species, the hawthorn maggot fly. The reason for sympatric speciation can be barrier between the gene flow between the two species, i.e. reproductive barrier.
Population can be defined as the group of similar type of organisms that are habitants of the same place, require similar resources and most importantly can breed among themselves.
