A garden is to be made in the form of an isosceles triangle. The equal side must be 4ft. Less than twice the base. The perimeter is 77ft. What is the length of the base ?

P = S1 + S2 + B.
77 = (2B - 4) + (2B - 4) + B.
77 = 2B - 4 +2B - 4 + B.
77 = 5B - 8.
77 + 8 = 5B.
85 = 5B
B = 85/5
B=17 ft
