  The White League was a paramilitary terrorist organization created on 1874 to kick Republican out of office from the Southern States. They did this by intimidating with violence the freedmen and its allied whites from political organizing and voting.

  The White League achieved in 1876 the control of the Democrats in the Louisian Legislature by supressing the Republican votes. After this its members were absorbed into the states militias and the National Guard.
