The hindbrain is composed of three main components: medulla, the pons, and the cerebellum.

The medulla is situated right next to the spinal cord and it controls all of the functions outside the conscious control such as breathing as well as blood flow.

The pons on the other hand affects activities such as sleeping, waking, and dreaming.

Lastly, the cerebellum controls the balance and coordination of movement and damage to the cerebellum impairs fine motor skills.
