What volcano in Greece, with an elevation of 367 m, has been worthy of study as a result of its explosive history and close proximity to human population?

Respuesta :

It would make sense to be Mount Vesuvius. It was a very catastrophic explosion in European history.
A volcano at the island of Thera near Crete exploded violently in 1646 BC and buried a town of Akrotiri (like Pompeii and Hurculaneum  in  Italy) and killed about 20,000 people. Thus it was near a center of population so is worthy of study. Workmen digging in pumice for rock for the Suez Canal found vestiges of this city and that is how it got unearthed.
