Jonathan claims that since only humans can read, it must be an inherited trait, passed from human parents to their children.

Is Jonathan correct in his claim?

A)
Yes, intelligence is inherited.

B)
No, many other animals can read.

C)
Yes, people are born knowing how to read.

D)
No, reading is a trait that must be learned.

Respuesta :

He is wrong, actually. Intelligence levels may be inherited, this is true, such as if you have two extremely smart parents, their genes would be passed down to the child, increasing the chances of the kid also being smart.

However, this doesn't mean he's right. Humans aren't able to read from the moment they are brought into the world. Reading is something a human must first learn to do, starting out with learning his/her native language, then learning to read and interpret that language, as well as understand it.

Reading is a trait that must be learned. The answer is D.
