Two trains leave towns 996 miles apart at the same time and travel toward each other. One train travels 18 miles/hour faster than the other. If they meet in 6 hours, what is the rate of each train?

Respuesta :

One train (lets call it train A) is traveling 92 mph. The other train (lets call it train B) is traveling 74 mph.
Train A = 96 miles/hour
Train B = 74 miles/hour
To double check we can multiply both of them by 6 and then add them up.
92 x 6 = 552.
74 x 6 = 444.
552 + 444 = 996. This is true so this means the answer is correct.
I hope this helps you
