It was a time of war and though the morals may not seem the best, in the long run it may have been the decision that would have cost us the war. If we would have kept letting them in then that would open up a great line for espionage and other such German activity and around the time of the second world war that was the last thing america needed. Not to mention that we just narrowly made it out of the war as is, if the Germans were to have an advantage like that then the war could have had a majorly different outcome.
