Since 1790, the United States began keeping record of the statistical data on their cities, their citizens and different aspects of life. One of these statistics has to do with the most populous cities, in the different years in which the Census was carried out. As such, in 1850, one such Census was done, and a list of ten cities came out as the most populous in the U.S. From the list provided by the Bureau Census, 7 of these cities were from the original 13 British colonies, while 3 came later with the annexation of territories. These 7 original cities, according to research, were:

The other three: New Orleans, Cincinnati and St. Louis, also among the 10 most populous by this census, were cities that appeared later and belong to the territories that were later annexed.
