The Soviet Union was an ally to the German Empire, however, Hitler did not like the idea of communism and started his campaign towards Moscow, when this was happening, Stalin repeatedly asked the allies to help them (begging). After the Allies decided to accept to help him, Stalin asked multiple times to help them by fighting the Germans on a second front, coming to the invasion of Normandy. Simply, Stalin begged, and he got what he wanted.
