The main way in which Japanese prints were different from most Western art during Degas's time was C. Dancers were a very popular subject in Japanese prints. Typically in the Western world, dancers were not viewed as something to be painted and seen as art, this was different than Japan. As such, Degas (known for painting dancers) was a larger collector of Japanese prints and you can see the parallelism in his own works to that of Japan.
The correct answer is D. Figures were cut off at the edges in Japanese prints. I just took the test and got it correct. Hope this solves the confusion. Your welcome!
