The climates isn't affected by the water and waves are caused by the gravitational pull off the moon on the earth. Due to the location of northern Europe it doesn't receive direct light as much as the equator does therefore it's climate isn't effected by the warmer water.

Latitude helps to determine the position in reference to the equator. The closer something is to the equator the more tropical the climate. Vice versa the further away from the equator the the colder the climate.

Mountains prevent moist air from blowing over into the desert.
Due to the height altitudes created by mountains it is possible for the mountains to block potiential moist and trapping it as snow onto the mountain range.

Mountains prevent cold air from blowing over into the south.
As with the previous question the mountains high altitudes prevent any moisture as well as cold air from reaching pass the mountains causeing the desert like affect.
