We need to figure out what the Y-intercept is and what the rate is. This may feel odd finding these things because of the real world problem, but it will help when finding the equation. This is what basic equation we are following.
mx+b=y
But x is being replaced with h while c is y. M would be the rate, how much Umesh is gaining hourly. It states that he is gaining 80.
80h+b=c
We need to find b. B is the starting value. Usually b may be 0 in some cases if it isn't stated, but it is directly stated in the problem that there is a fixed charge of $50. We would know if the starting value is negative, but it is not for this problem.
80h+50=C would be the formula.
