On the assembly line it takes 2 ½ minutes to complete task one, 3 minutes 10 seconds to complete task two and 1 minute to complete the last task to make an item.How many items can be completed in 25 minutes?

Task 2 ----- 3 min 10 sec = 3+10/60 = [tex] 3\frac{1}{6} [/tex] minutes
Task 3 ----- 1 min
Total time to make 1 item = [tex]2 \frac{1}{2} [/tex] + [tex]3 \frac{1}{6} [/tex] +1 = [tex]6 \frac{2}{3} [/tex]minutes

In 25 minutes;

Number of items made = 25/(6 2/3) = 3.75 items = 3 items (since only a fully assembly can be regarded as an item).
