You respond, “Even kids benefit. One specific example is playground,
schools, and libraries. A way that our family benefits is how the government
defends us. A way that our community benefits is how they get money to get
the thing that they need.
“How was I supposed to know all this? I don’t have 19 cents. What do I do
now?”
You respond, “What you should do is create your own budget. A budget is
income plan. It lists all your money coming in and how much is going out.
When you subtract expensive from income, what is left can be a surplus,
spending money, or it could be deficit. The reason having a deficit is bad is
because that means that you owe money to someone.
“Will my budget be anything like the government’s budget?”
You respond, “They have similarities and differences. Some similarities include
how much money that you can get on a certain item. Some differences include
that you are buying for yourself and not for the country.
